Leeds and Bradford MAG win fight to keep secure parking

When it came to light that Leeds Council were planning to remove two secure parking bays, our campaigns officer (Marcus Houlden) was immediately on the case. The proposal was to remove the secure parking bay in Great George Street and
move the existing bay in Wade Street – but with no guarantee that the new bay would be able to secure the same number of motorcycles.
After raising objections to the plan and discussing the proposals with them, the Council has now agreed to retain the secure parking in Great George Street. The Council has also agreed to review the condition of the parking rails (often damaged
by cars) and replace them where required.
It’s also been agreed that the secure parking bay in Wade Street will be replaced further along the road. This is a better site than the one it’s replacing as it’s more over-looked and, importantly, is moved away from its close proximity to a main road junction.
